‘They took a big risk. They put themselves in very close proximity to a lot of U.S. surveillance. It was a golden opportunity’

A flaming hunk of metal, outside of Baghdad’s international airport, is all that remains of one of Iran’s most feared and powerful men, the result of an American airstrike that came a week of heightened tensions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States.

The drone strike, said Thomas Juneau, a professor in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa, was absolutely typical in some ways — but not at all in others. The strike, which broke on Twitter Thursday night in North America, came after a tense week in U.S.-Iranian relations: Baghdad’s U.S. embassy was attacked by Iran-backed paramilitaries earlier this week, and, on Sunday, the Pentagon said it killed at least 25 fighters for Kataib Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militia, in western Iraq and eastern Syria, as a reprisal for the death of an American civilian contractor two days prior.

“He was very much an on-the-ground kind of commander who regularly went to Iraq, to Syria, even to Lebanon in some cases,” Juneau explained.

You didn’t explain the WHY of this killing! Why? Ah, I forgot, USA is God!

Such journalism. Much critical thinking.

And because the lunatic empire murdered him, you have now more then likely sparked a holy war. Congratulations idiots.

Now if they had droned Hitler in 1936

“Soleimani felt he was “untouchable” as the “viceroy of Iraq.”” Seems he was wrong about that. Good riddance.

This looks like the same media release the Trump administration sent to US outlets. Please ask questions.

Please dont use fakenews wapo as a source. Also you should mention that this douche bag has been responsible for the deaths of over 500 Americans and perhaps a million people. And who really cares what the president was eating. And you know he wasn’t golfing FakeNews

You were doing so well with this article. Laying out the facts. Being Switzerland. Until you brought in golf, ice cream, eating meatloaf. Who cares? He could’ve been sitting around playing candy crush, for all it matters. He. Got. Shit. Done. Keep out the fluff next time, pls.
