Public Safety Minister Blair says B.C. RCMP have met conditions set by Wet’suwet’en First Nation

OTTAWA — Public Safety Minister Bill Blair says the RCMP in British Columbia has offered to move its officers to a town away from the area where traditional leaders of the Wet’suwet’en First Nation have been opposing a pipeline project on their territory.

“We have met the condition that those who are on the barricades had said was important to them before they would change their posture, and that work has been done, and I think quite appropriately.” The hereditary chiefs have demanded the RCMP leave their traditional land and have refused to meet with federal or provincial officials until this was done.

The government should be forced to compensate the lost wages of CN workers who have been laid off due to the protests. The workers are caught in the cross hairs and cannot do anything about it.

Why in this country do we allow ourselves to be held hostage by indigenous protesters? I just dont understand why they are not treated like anyone else breaking the law.

A toy country deserves Skippy & The Gong Show toy leadership.

Country of enablers.

Come on National Post. Don't lump protesters together with the majority of Wet'suwet'en that support CoastalGasLink

So those breaking laws are now able to set conditions ? Only in Canada. Sad.

So the laws here are the wetsuwet? Well we should elect their leader as the new PRime minister of Canada!

Nonsense it won't make any difference to the bully hereditary chief radicals. The hereditary chiefs wanted to see how fast & high the goven, RCMP & Blair would jump, they did jump fast & high. The kneeling position to standing position is quite a leap!

Skippys solution is to not enforce the law but instead appease law breakers. A precedent now set. The road to perdition is paved with the most noble of causes Get the trains running and the electorate will deal with the canadian Neville Chamberlain at the ballot box. cdnpoli

Trudeau “interfered” in the Judiciary AGAIN!!! He TOLD the RCMP not to enforce a lawful court order by equating doing that with “force” in the media. Is Canada a “Banana Republic” since the PM ROUTINELY interferes in the Judiciary First with Raybould his AG then this....

Good to know who is the boss in this relationship.

These people are terrorists placing vital Canadian infrastructure at risk and should be treated as such, I’m embarrassed for the RCMP

Public Safety = Public Control. Wake up people, parliamentary democracy is not representative and party system undemocratic. Canadians need to take back Canada but history shows will need a revolution! Why do u think they want our guns. Wake up.

In Liberal speak, negotiation means appeasement.

Really? Nothing like emboldening eco-radicals and a splinter FMNI group...now how do you enforce any lawful court order in Canada again Do we all just ignore the court or refuse to pay our TAXES perhaps....

Apparently, the govt can't tell the RCMP to enforce the law, but it can tell them to retreat from law enforcement. Explain please. cdnpoli bcpoli

Serious question, does anyone know what court level issued these injunctions? Because apparently they are worthless

“Governments do not tell police what to do”

Because letting these criminals set the rules is such a great president. Sad day for Canada when the government allows this small group of thugs control the narrative. The incompetence of this government is astounding.

For such a big man, he’s such a small man.

Why doesn’t trudeau get it over with, give them everything they want. Open the tracks. Both sides are happy. Just throw money at it.

The police have ‘met conditions’ set by illegal activists? The liberals really are in the twilight zone.

So when are the blockades coming down?

It will make no difference. These people are like Monty Python’s French Taunters. Let’s see what else we can make them do!

Dayam!!!! ha ha And Statscan wants my banking informaion. Yeah, let me see a warrent!!!!! This government can't even tie their own laces let alone run a country. So embarrassing for Canadians. This should be a lesson to developers switching over sensitive systems. Run both systems in parallel for at least a full cycle (in this case at least a year). The expense of testing is small compared to the colossal mess we have now.
