A simulation what the wind farm proposed by World Energy GH2 would look like in an area on the Port au Port Peninsula. – World Energy GH2 - ContributedSTEPHENVILLE, N.L. — Environment Minister Bernard Davis is asking for more information about the environmental impact of a
proposed project to build a 164-turbine onshore wind farm and hydrogen facility on the Port aux Port Peninsula. Davis is requiring that proponent World Energy GH2 submit an environmental impact statement outlining additional information on the proposed project's effects on the area. That includes information on the final location of proposed infrastructure and the impact on plants and wildlife.
An environmental assessment committee made up of representatives of several provincial and federal departments has been appointed to provide scientific and technical advice to Davis. The committee will also draft the guidelines that World Energy GH2 will have to meet in preparing the impact statement.If approved, the wind farm is expected to be operational in 2025.
