Wolf shot and killed by police after escaping enclosure near Port Colborne

In a news release issued Thursday, investigators said the animal was shot after officers attempted unsuccessfully to contain and capture the wolf.

The female white Arctic wolf was rescued from an area in northern Ontario and dug out of its enclosure on Tuesday morning.

Tranquilizers? Waiting for the SPCA to show up to do the job properly? Why shot the animal? Did it hurt anyone? Did it kill anyone? Oh humans were scared of it, it started walking down the street of in a neighborhood, humans think they are entitled to everything....

There are lots of wolves in Ontario. Unless this one had been a nuisance and killed livestock they should have let it be.

They may want to do the same for the person that was responsible for the wolf getting out! Just saying!

So, a wolf. That was rescued, was then shot by a trigger happy NiagRegPolice for being a wolf. Instead of waiting for the SPCA to arrive with a tranq gun instead. Wolves are pack hunters and it probably didn't pose much threat by itself to the farm animals. Needless kill.

Couldn't they just shoot him with a sleeping dose instead of killing this beautiful animal of nature? 🙏
