Saanich police say they believe alcohol was a factor in a case where a vehicle veered off Cedar Hill Road early Thursday and hit a large tree.
The crash happened about 1:30 am. Police arrived to find the vehicle on its side in a forested area of Mount Douglas Park, or PKOLS. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was treated by B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. “While the driver was fortunate to walk away with non-serious injuries, this type of collision was completely preventable,” said Const. Markus Ansatasiades. “Impaired driving can lead to tragic consequences.”
He said the crash comes as Saanich police prepare to start the holiday season’s enhanced road checks Friday.
