Algoma Public Health warns residents to wear protective eyewear during the partial solar eclipse to avoid health impacts such as retinal burns and blurred vision. Local schools take precautions by rescheduling a P.A. Day to ensure student safety.

First things first: Sault Ste. Marie is not in the "path of totality," which means we will experience only a partial eclipse this afternoon.

Locally, the partial eclipse will begin at 2 p.m. and finish by 4:30 p.m. — peaking for a few minutes at approximately 3:15 p.m.
