NEW: Ottawa police chief wants to delay Wellington Street opening ottnews

Wellington Street has been closed in front of Parliament Hill for nearly a year since the 'Freedom Convoy' protests began.

Chief Eric Stubbs says a "whole security footprint analysis" of the street and the Parliamentary Precinct needs to be completed before the street opens to traffic. "I understand the need to have it open, but before opening though, I would prefer that all aspects of the security for the hill and that general area are analyzed, are developed, put into place and the funding is there and we sort of launch that new Parliament Hill that includes Wellington all at the same time."

Fuc Koff! Open up our streets that we Ottawa tax payers pay for!

It’s not up to the chief. The committee that oversees it made their decision.

Close Wellington in front of Parliament Hill. Make it a pedestrian mall. Open up Sparks Street to traffic. Ottawa

Good. It shouldn’t reopen to vehicles at all. Makes no sense.

What a town full of wankers 🤦‍♂️

More power trippin

Dreessen: Wellington Street — it's time to think beyond the vehiclesThe City of Ottawa and the federal government need to see that a street closed to cars should be open to people. Classic - Left-media pushing JustinTrudeau and his Communist agenda. 'You will own nothing and be happy' BS! I love what that artist’s concept looks like. Let’s do that! That’s going to be empty the 5 months of winter. At least a street serves a purpose 12 months a year.

Ottawa police look to ID suspect in Baseline Road robberyAt about 11 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the 1300 block of Baseline, one suspect entered a store and concealed several items in a bag before heading toward the exit, police said. Can someone explain why police identify the location of a crime by a general address (“the 1300 block of Baseline Road”) rather than the actual business? That block contains several businesses, including a Loblaws and Fabricland, so wouldn’t more info possibly help jog memories?
