Patrick Lakanen died when the SUV he was driving collided with a pickup truck.

Lakanen was alone and travelling east on the highway. The occupants of the westbound pickup truck — a 44-year-old driver and a 15-year-old passenger, both from Madawaska Valley Township — were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A portion of the highway was closed for about 12 hours. Police continue to investigate the collision, and are asking anyone with information to contact the Killaloe OPP detachment at 613-757-2600, or through Crime Stoppers, at 1-800-222-8477.
