Opinion | Maybe there were some good bits to 2021. And a Serge Ibaka story from two different angles

I really don’t know what to say about this year as it comes to an end.

How we eventually hold these people accountable is clear: There will be elections and I truly hate campaigns filled more with “what they did bad” as opposed to “what we’ll do well” but I can’t wait for the next vote to come around.There was reason to think 2021 represented some steps forward that are necessary and most welcome.

First, I think the cause of women’s sports took a large step forward this year.

It is not new – I will forever be grateful to DeMar DeRozan for letting me help him get the ball rolling in discussion of the mental health of athletes – but there were, I believe, giant strides made in the recognition of athletes as people this year.
