Veteran Conservative Senator Michael MacDonald wants a leadership review of Erin O’Toole following the latter’s recent election campaign performance

Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole speaks at a press conference in Ottawa on Sept. 21, 2021. Conservative members of Parliament are to vote Tuesday on whether to reserve the right to remove Mr. O’Toole as leader.A veteran Conservative senator is urging members of the party’s caucus to give themselves the option to oust Erin O’Toole as a result of the federal Conservative Leader’s performance in the recent federal election campaign.

The party won 119 seats in the Sept. 20 election, down two from the 2019 campaign under Andrew Scheer. The Tories lost seats in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, failed to break through in the Greater Toronto Area, and lost three Alberta seats to the Liberals and NDP. However, they made gains in rural ridings or smaller urban centres.

The caucus will meet as Mr. O’Toole is facing questions raised by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation about his housing expenses.Expenditure reports between August, 2020, when Mr. O’Toole became Conservative Leader, and January, 2021, show three monthly $2,300 claims for a secondary residence expense for Mr. O’Toole.

But the Members’ Allowances and Services Manual, which spells out the rules for MPs, says the Leader of the Official Opposition, the Speaker and the Prime Minister are not eligible to claim secondary residence expenses.

Cons won’t have a shot at winning if they keep on running lame duck candidates like Scheer and O’Toole. They need to run a candidate like Rona Ambrose, or even Pierre Pollievre. Only chance that party ever comes close to turning it around.

MerlinofCanada Enjoying watching them eat their own. They are furious he wasn't crueler and meaner and more backward on the campaign trail. They needed those racist gravel thrower votes. The Swiss Chalet coupons should have been 75% off, not 50%. LOL.

MerlinofCanada “The only conclusion that can be drawn from these numbers is that the leader’s conscious decision to move the Conservative Party to the left has been a strategic failure' He was running, too far 'left' of what they want?

O'Toole came off as fundamentally untrustworthy in his courting of the anti-abortionists, the radical gun lobby, and climate change sceptics. His decision to cancel $10/day daycare was the nail in the coffin. Conservative

I wish we could recall the Senate

I always thought they nominated him as a scapegoat. A Poilievre/Harper puppet if they got in, but a scapegoat otherwise. Unfortunately for Erin it's otherwise. Now, who else on the benches is unelectable Put em in for a period, see if they score a goal.

Finally. erinotoole is weak on vaccine passports, flip flopped on carbon tax, gun bans and has been silent on jkenney and the Alberta COVID disaster.

Might have been worth mentioning here that the CPC constitution already requires that the party hold a leadership review vote at its first convention after an election loss. Yes, Chong’s act has a different trigger, but there’s going to be a review vote no matter what.

And now the rats jump ship

What to expect when Conservative MPs meet Tuesday to discuss the election — and Erin O'Toole's leadershipSome party insiders believe O\u0027Toole is confident enough in his support that he may ask for a snap vote on his leadership Hot air. And more hot air from Conrad Hack and his Post. These people are not conservative christians Toss him, Erin seems like he’s be a good leader in normal times, but he’s not the right guy to compete against the Trudeau machine. Need a lawyer like Poilievre who can call JT on his lies Throw the bum out. He is a slightly better clone of the hapless Scheer, who was like an unpopular kid trying to hang out with the cool kids.
