Some party insiders believe O\u0027Toole is confident enough in his support that he may ask for a snap vote on his leadership

In August 2020, O’Toole won the leadership race through appealing to the party’s more hardline base and slamming his rival Peter MacKay as “Liberal lite.” His moves to the centre since then — such as adopting carbon pricing and courting organized labour — have generated significant internal backlash.

The biggest question is whether caucus will seek to hold a formal vote on his leadership through the Reform Act. If caucus does adopt the provision, it would then take 20 per cent of MPs signing a petition to trigger a leadership review vote. That vote, which needs a simple majority to pass, would use a secret ballot. But even then, the vote itself likely wouldn’t happen on Tuesday; procedural rules mean it would almost certainly be pushed to a later meeting.Article content

A snap vote request could backfire. Alberta MP Tom Kmiec, who was caucus chair last session, has urged his colleagues to adopt the Reform Act because it lays out a clear process.

Throw the bum out. He is a slightly better clone of the hapless Scheer, who was like an unpopular kid trying to hang out with the cool kids.

Hot air. And more hot air from Conrad Hack and his Post. These people are not conservative christians

Toss him, Erin seems like he’s be a good leader in normal times, but he’s not the right guy to compete against the Trudeau machine. Need a lawyer like Poilievre who can call JT on his lies

Tofino trip may only hasten Trudeau’s departureA futile election, a lack of fresh initiatives and a disjointed economy all point to Mr. Trudeau’s departure before the next election If only We can only hope. Canada needs a socially-liberal but fiscally responsible approach to government. This man is awful and needs to go away. The blackface, false feminism, virtue signalling, rampant overspending, now this. Ibbitson and Coyne are unfit for service. If a Conservative PM opened the door wide for a Nikolas Cruz to massacre dozens of Canadian school children, these two would certainly not be calling for resignation. They would be calling for an alliance with PPC.

Karen Woods: Tories failed to reach out to Chinese-Canadians — and suffered because of itWhile it’s evident that Beijing manipulated Canadian voters, blaming that alone for the collapsing Conservative Chinese\u002DCanadian vote simply won’t cut it Probably because they're not 'Old Stock' Canadians. Does Karen believe Chinese Canadians (mainly from Hong Kong) support pandering Liberal policies towards China? Trudeau has done little to nothing to stand up to China or defend the rights of oppressed Hong Kong residents. Think foreign election interference.
