NHL Board of Governors approves player development agreements for the 2020-21 season.

The new agreement includes a one-year extension of the current deal with the CHL. Players have to be either 20 years old or have played four seasons in junior hockey before they can join an NHL team’s minor-league affiliate. The current agreement was signed back in November 2013 and was set to expire on June 30, 2020.

The NHL will also follow the same player transfer agreement with leagues under the IIHF Federation, including Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Denmark, Norway and Germany. The league also announced a new player transfer agreement with the Swiss Ice Hockey Association and Swiss League.
