The NHL announced that the 2019 Draft Lottery will take place April 9th.

Typically, lottery results are both determined and revealed on a Saturday during the first round of the post-season but this year it will happen on a Tuesday when no games will be scheduled. It will occur in Toronto despite the draft itself taking place in Vancouver beginning June 21.

Three separate draws are conducted to assign the first-, second- and third-overall picks. The team that finishes with the worst record in the regular season will have the best odds, as you can see from this chart provided by the NHL.

Cooper: Marner one of the smartest players NHL ''has ever seen''Lightning head coach Jon Cooper praises Mitch Marner's ability to play both sides of the puck and says he's one of the smartest players the league has ever seen. Part of this is sincere, the other part is Leaf rivals talking him up during contract negotiations to pressure the team's cap so they have to shed more players and replace with ELCs I wish this guy would think a little before making outlandish statements like this. Marker is a very smart player but to say one of the smartest ever is just a coach talking for nothing What a troll job John Cooper
