The acclaimed British director Luke Holland interviewed more than 300 elderly Germans and Austrians, including many former SS members, for"Final Account", which is being premiered at the Venice film festival.
The Hollywood Reporter praised the film as "exceptional" and said it may be the last chance to hear from "active participants in the horrors of the concentration camps". Others denied the Holocausts while openly admitting they knew about massacres. "Don't blame Hitler," one said. "The idea was correct... should have been driven out of the country" rather than killed.
The long emotional exchange happens around the table in Wannsee House, the stately home in a Berlin suburb where the Final Solution -- the deportation and extermination of all Jews in German-occupied territory -- was drawn up. In his epigraph for the film, Holland -- who grew up speaking German and whose mother's family perished in the Holocaust -- refused to damn his subjects, most of whom were in their 90s.Yet he did not pull away from asking the hard questions of men and women he had befriended.

Bullsh__. Himmler’s Diaries detailed the great effort that was made 2 conceal the Concentration Camp Gas chambers, even fr German Soldiers. Not 1 person knew about them,except 4 those living & working inside them and they were specially chosen SS Ppl.
U would have had to been blind and deaf not to know. They would round up all the Jews from the town then take them to the outskirts of town and shoot them then bury the corpses. I’m sure most were petrified if they said anything fearing they would be arrested or killed.
Similarities with now..The Liberals are dictating, corrupted, ethics violators and control the medias that are spreading Propaganda. And 70% of the population are suffering the consequences..
This doesn't shock me that many more German's knew and turned a blind eye. That's similar to people who knew in the US that unsavoury interrogation was used at Guantanamo but turned a blind eye. Often it's feeling hopeless to change it or not wanting to acknowledge it's happening
How should they all have known? There was no TV or internet and movie theaters and radio stations were run by nazi propaganda. My grandparents never had a radio or saw a movie theater until after the war.
Hard not too when half your neighborhood goes missing.
Trying to associate German anti-lockdown protests with Nazis? That's backward. Nazis were not about civil rights.
Of course they did, it was part of what they were told to believe in. Some agreed with it and some felt they had no choice.
Just like most Canadians are aware the silent Holocaust of the extermination of innocent unborn babies is happening in far greater numbers. So....which one is worse?
