UPDATE Efforts ramp up to get Taliban-Afghan peace talks started

Last Updated Thursday, September 3, 2020 1:31PM EDT

Calling it "a historic moment," UN special representative Deborah Lyons told the UN Security Council that "after four decades of war the people of Afghanistan have more reason than ever to hope that this devastating conflict which has brought so much suffering may finally come to an end." "As we look towards the peace talks, this violence also creates an atmosphere of mistrust that risks derailing negotiations," she warned.

Washington has already begun reducing its troop levels and by November, it is expected to have less than 5,000 soldiers still in Afghanistan -- down from around 13,000 when the U.S.-Taliban deal was signed. Taliban political spokesman Suhail Shaheen earlier told the AP that a cease-fire would be among the first items on the negotiating table. The group 's 20-member negotiation team reports directly to Taliban chief Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada.

U.S. says it won't join global effort to find COVID-19 vaccineThe Trump administration said Tuesday that it will not work with an international co-operative effort to develop and distribute a COVID-19 vaccine because it does not want to be constrained by multilateral groups like the World Health Organization. The USA already has a vaccine. It was created years ago and this is all planned. The maker is Moderna. Moderna was a piece of a broken up Nazi medical company. It was broken apart into pieces by George Soros. Interestingly, Dr. Fauci, was the 1st CEO. 'The 🇺🇲 government's deal with Moderna follows similar agreements it's made with pharmaceutical giants Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson and other drug makers for their potential Covid-19 vaccines' It’s because the US wants to find a way for private enterprise to $profit$ off of the vaccine.
