Findings show we’ll shop early, do our research and look to score deals

While a whopping 58 per cent of those surveyed said they will shop online more during the 2021 holidays, many say their tactics will involve research and planning before purchasing. Don’t, however, mistake a methodical approach with a disinterest in deals. Far from it. Online “sales, deals and promotions” are on this must-have list for 51 per cent of shoppers.The Google Canada findings show nearly half of those surveyed “will be more thoughtful about where they shop,” and 22 per cent will choose purchases based on whether it’s environmentally sustainable or conscious.

They are also open minded, with 45 per cent reporting they would consider shopping at new stores or looking into new brands this year.Article content Nearly 40 per cent of Canadian shoppers also want to support local businesses — and say they plan to — which is good news for many entrepreneurs battered by the impact of COVID-19 on life as we know it.
