Police are asking people on Quadra and Cortez islands to keep an eye out for the girls and for any signs of a camp or a recently used campsite

Police were asking people on Quadra and Cortez islands on Thursday to keep an eye out for two missing teenage girls from Campbell River and for any signs of a camp or a recently used campsite.

Tyre said it seems like the girls may be hiding out: “At this point in time, we believe that the girls may be attempting to camp in the thick forests of Quadra Island and are ill-prepared to be doing so.” “They are both indoor cats, so to speak,” said Lamont. “We’re not campers. We’re not avid outdoor enthusiasts.Environment Canada reported daytime temperatures of 8 C on Thursday with a 40 per cent chance of showers or wet flurries.

“What we are trying to do is narrow down the area so we can utilize those larger things like search organizations,” said Tyre. Anyone with any information regarding the girls’ disappearance is asked to contact the Campbell River RCMP directly at 250-286-6221, as they use tips in real time to narrow their search area.
