Who won, who lost and who left the weekend with a better shot at making the playoffs — and potentially competing for a Stanley Cup? A lot of these answers won’t be known for a number of years. But that doesn’t mean we can’t pass judgment on what we saw.

And in a weekend that included some major trades, some head-scratching picks and quite a few gambles, there was a lot to see.It’s never a good sign when the player you select in the first round goes from getting picked to immediately grabbing a flight back home to Russia. But with two years remaining on his KHL contract, it’s not like anyone expected Vasili Podkolzin to hang around.
