Lost in the whole media discussion is the difference b/w the intent to harm (spewing hateful rhetoric + meaning it) vs unintended insensitivity 18 years ago. Most troubling are real racists now 'outraged' + calling others racist, while embolden to be moreso, w/ convenient excuse.
