It’s a sign of the season — managing coughs, nasal congestion and fevers as viral infections such as RSV other respiratory viruses float around. Nicholas Vozoris, an assistant professor and staff respirologist at Saint Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto, calls it a “post-infectious cough” that can last up to eight weeks. This cough lingers after other infectious symptoms settle down and can occur with viral or bacterial respiratory tract infections.

While doctors are familiar with this condition, it may not be widely recognized by the public. Canada is currently in the midst of cold and flu season
