Mailloux also said he knows gaining the trust of thousands of Canadiens fans who were outwardly disturbed by Montreal’s decision to select him in the first round of the NHL Draft is in order.
Mailloux said roughly 12 hours later, on Saturday, plans were being discussed with the Canadiens, but no initiatives had been set. “During an intimate moment with a young woman, I took a picture of us without her consent,” Mailloux started. “I sent it to my teammates to impress them. It was totally irresponsible and a stupid act that I committed without thinking twice. For that lack of judgment on my part, I was fined by Swedish law. I know I caused a lot of harm to this person and their family, and I regret doing this stupid and egotistical act. I deeply regret it.
“I’ve been meeting with a therapist, and she helps me go through just what’s going in on my life and how I can better myself moving forward here with this situation,” Mailloux explained. “And just with myself, just with everything going on in my life, it’s definitely something that has helped me sort of stay level and be able to navigate my way through this journey.”
“I had multiple meetings,” Mailloux said. “Interviews and meetings with Montreal throughout the year. But over the past week or so, since I released that statement, I haven’t spoken with anybody. So, it’s been quiet on that front since then.”
EricEngels I am so glad everyone jumping all over LM we’re so darn perfect at his age. Come on folks - he made a big mistake - but let him learn from it and be a better person going forward - he should not have to pay for it for the rest of his life?
EricEngels Most of this is sanctimonious chatter. Have these people not been paying attention to what the hockey world is experiencing? The myth of purity has been obliterated. Time to move on... ✌
Goalcaufield2 EricEngels I don't like what he did but there are players playing now and in the past that have done 10 times worse, with no repercussions and I don't think they will .
EricEngels WTF Didn’t you just write an article Denouncing the pick? And now this? What kind of journalism is this Did you , like all the Karen’s in here jump the gun EricEngels ? This is ridiculous!!!
EricEngels First 3 years salary goes to abused women
EricEngels Montreal has a plan in place for you, they went out on a limb to draft you, they must believe in you go forward in life and continue to embrace remorse and find compassion for the young lady that you hurt.
EricEngels Or he could have passed on signing and allowed time to pass before trying for a draft again. OR he could have apologized and truly acted like he learned from what he did and did the right thing before the draft.
EricEngels Another “character” player for the Habs.
EricEngels This is sad
EricEngels No he doesn’t need to gain the hockey worlds trust. He needs to devote his life during and outside of hockey (bc apparently the Habs turn a blind eye to this behaviour), to gain the trust of women. I’m all for 2nd chances but this just stinks.
EricEngels Expressing regret does NOT come from playing hockey. In fact, regret, remorse, trust rebuilding has no connection with the game. You owe the victim more than a few goals scored for a few million. So quit this nonsense already. Habs
EricEngels What more do you want, you heroes out there.
EricEngels Great but before you apologise to the hockey world, how about apologising to the young lady, IN PERSON!!!!!!!!!
EricEngels I think he looks like greg16676935420
EricEngels
EricEngels He doesn't need to prove remorse to anyone except those he's wronged. Strangers and fans are owed nothing.
EricEngels By not condemning this kid and MB, Engels is effectively saying that he also hates women too. Massive fails to go around in Montreal, including its own reporters.
EricEngels I hope he does because we don’t need people do action like in the world
EricEngels It’s not that he got drafted as everyone should in most cases get a second chance but 1st round pick ,seriously
FAN590 EricEngels Only the Canadiens would do something stupid like this.
EricEngels The Swedish justice system has moved on but hockey Twitter is foaming at the mouth and thirsty for blood…much more than the actual victim who has only requested a heartfelt apology.
EricEngels God Bless
EricEngels He made a mistake, his life is salvageable. I wonder if we are trying to push him towards suicide, would that make it better.
EricEngels Good on him do the crime do the time and move on, it shouldn't be a life sentence
EricEngels 1. He needs to give a legit, heartfelt apology to the victim. 2. The Habs need to apologize to the victim for picking him. 3. Bergevin needs to be fired for this and his part in covering up the sexual misconducts during his time with the Blackhawks.
EricEngels Kids make mistakes. He will need to apologize properly and show he has learned from this. Don’t think we need to cancel him and ruin his life due to a mistake as a 17 year old. Shared a pic of a consensual act. Dumb thing to do. Hope the habs help him grow and be more respectful
EricEngels Maybe a legit, sincere apology to his victim would be the best place to start.. Not a 3 sentence text.
EricEngels Start with a real apology to the victim
EricEngels Logan Mailloux should not have been drafted this year. He got a fucking criminal conviction 6 months ago.
