Letters to The Sun, Jan. 16, 2021: Milan Kljajic deserves to recognized as a hero

I am still in contact with many of the residents and the news article gave hope to some of the residents waiting patiently for life to go back to normal. The seniors miss all the special events that Milan holds monthly as well as all the programming each day. Kiwanis is very lucky to have a solid caring man overseeing the day-to-day operations. Without Milan, I’m sure that Kiwanis Towers would be another statistic for a COVID-19 outbreak. I suggest that the B.C.

The U.S. Declaration of Independence documents 27 specific grievances against the British Crown. To my knowledge, all of these grievances were legitimate, meaning they’d actually happened in the real world. In contrast, the Trump loyalists’ grievances—especially those related to election fraud—are rooted in fabrications, baseless Internet theories and a reality defined in whole by the cult’s leader, Donald J. Trump.

As an American by birth whose 6x great grandfather served as a captain with a Vermont militia unit during the American Revolutionary War, I’m appalled, insulted and angered by the comparison.Re:I was not surprised when Chris Selley agreed that the public had justification to direct their anger at politicians/government officials who broke the very rules they helped create. However, I was taken aback when he defended those who chose to travel internationally.

Recently, my retired sister was told by Expedia that if she didn’t rebook her cruise to the Mediterranean before June she would lose all her money. Despite disputing and to date with no resolution in sight, she chose to do the right thing and rebook later in the year, hopefully after being vaccinated.
