‘At the heart of the shortage … family medicine is too difficult.’ Finding a family doctor, plus other letters to the editor for Dec. 3

: Kudos to columnist Konrad Yakabuski for his thoughtful comments on the fate of Sir John A. Macdonald’s statue in Montreal’s Place du Canada.

Macdonald’s record has black spots when it comes to First Nations, such as residential schools. But history shows that he was also protective of Indigenous peoples and committed toward a Canada that included First Nations. Leaders should pro-actively address monuments that offend. History should be corrected to set the record straight. That’s not “cancel culture” or “scorched earth” – it’s the truth, which is what we want future generations to learn from.
