The remarkable journey of a local brewery | SaltWire #beer #halifax #goodrobot #lager #craftbeer #nsWe were told by the Houston government that it would get better under their watch, and it’s not. In fact, according to the people I’m speaking with on doorsteps, it’s getting worse.

According to Nova Scotia’s Action for Health website, only 10 net new family doctors were added in the whole province last year. That’s not good enough. In the same amount of time, 45 doctors left or closed their practice. The waitlist for a family practice just continues growing, and Nova Scotia Health has almost 130 family physician vacancies.

We also need to make sure Nova Scotians are not only able to access health care, but are also attached to a doctor’s clinic or primary care provider who knows them and their medical history. We can do this by expanding collaborative care clinics so people have a “health home” where they can get their prescriptions refilled and their health issues addressed.
