I read with interest the Oct. 28th Telegram article interviewing Dr. Sevtap Savas regarding her research into cancer care experiences here in Newfoundland and Labrador.

With a simple FIT test, done in the privacy of your own home, you can protect yourself from cancer. If you do the test and it is negative, you will get the result in the mail. Two years later, you will get a repeat test. In contrast to what is stated in the article, you do not need to see your family doctor to access this program. Anybody over the age of 50 can call 1-855-614-0144 to request a FIT kit. No need to go to your family doctor or even have a family doctor! If you do have a family doctor, they will receive a copy of your test results so they are kept in the loop.
