Opposition B.C. Liberals released a leaked document Tuesday that raises questions about the fiscal management of one of Premier David Eby’s former responsibilities — housing.
B.C. Housing said this year that the problems had been rectified, but the City of Vancouver subsequently refused to fund one of Atira’s properties out of safety concerns. Accountants concluded Atira’s board had incorrect, misleading information and lacked the critical thinking to do a deep analysis. Later, B.C. Housing developed its own management problems, revealed in a separate negative independent audit this year. Eby fired the entire NDP-appointed board a few days later, but there was no explicit explanation that it was due to mismanagement.The NDP has more than doubled the organization’s budget in recent years, to $1.9 billion.
Falcon told the legislature that the now-departed housing board allowed the former CEO to personally approve $115 million in spending “without any discernible due diligence.”
So, the BC Libs, who knew this was an issue (hence they commissioned the report) - now like many things that happened under their watch, conveniently 'forget' their role and accountability. KevinFalcon when will you stand up and admit you were part of the problem?
I would like to see CLBC audited too.

Wondering if Dave_Eby was in a coma for the past five years? Eby's entitlement, that he thinks he has free reign for two more years, is ludicrous. Instead of bribing us with our money, he should be calling an election. Clearly he has done a terrible job for five years, so I doubt he will do much better. Instead, do some forward thinking and ban or heavily restrict Air B&B to stop or reduce use of apartments and spare rooms as short-term rentals.

Opposition demands audits of B.C. housing providers following leaked reportsBritish Columbia's Opposition Liberals are calling for independent audits of two social housing providers as Premier David Eby marks his first days in office by setting out plans to tackle the housing crisis. We need lots more independent audits of these government contractors. Be great if politicians and political parties would all get along and do what’s right for the people instead trying to point fingers all the time These audits should just be an automatic process for every contract over a certain amount. We are wasting time arguing about this. If contractors know they will be checked on they are going to stay between the lines.
