ICYMI - Here’s how COVID-19 evolved to infect nearly 10,000 Canadians and kill more than 100 COVID19

Preliminary data of more than 5,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Canada show a country rapidly gripped by the novel coronavirus, where younger adults are not as safe as many believed and community spread rapidly eclipsed travel-related infections.

Roughly 51 per cent of cases were men and 48 per cent were women, with no gender listed for the rest. Men were overrepresented in the 40–49 age group, but otherwise there were few differences between cases among men and women. She said there are good reasons to focus testing on health-care workers but a broader testing strategy that matched population makeup would be required in order to better understand the spread of the virus.

Health officials at a noon conference said there is a backlog in collecting the data because federal entities need to coordinate with the provinces and territories. Dr. Jeff Kwong, also at the University of Toronto, pointed out that, on top of the age range for those 20 to 39 being larger than the other age groups, travellers in that age range may account for the larger number of positive cases.

dstairs1 Planes kept coming from most infected countries. They are still coming. It's not that this is a new, wild evolving virus, don't buy that excuse. Basic science. Just like staying home to reduce exposure. Border should have been closed 2 months ago. Period. Government is inept.

Yup...nobody stayed home.....

COVID-19 emergency checkpoints strain long-standing free movement between provinces‘By limiting entry and exit, public health authorities believe they can further limit and prevent the spread of COVID-19’ Quebec has the most number of confirmed cases, but then they block the entry of people from Ontario. They should do the opposite : restrict the exit of Quebecs to other provinces, which can help reduce the spread of the virus. Time for the separation of the WEST. No more free movement between provinces but Canadian borders that are open caused no concerns?!?!?!
