“We're noticing a really big increase in people requesting help. It's a difficult time and a lot of people are struggling,” she says, with higher costs for everything from gas to food. “They're finding it hard to be able to maintain a life that we had before COVID.”“There was a lot of youth that missed out on two years of activity. Now they are back in full force,” Robinson-Pyne says.
Steve Berry, one of the main organizers of the JStrong events, says everyone is excited to see the events come back. Jadon always made people laugh. If someone was down and out, he told them, ‘we got you.’ The JStrong fund, Berry says, embodies who Jadon was. “But it's only possible by every single person who volunteers, donates, and supports us. We channel the efforts, but it's everyone else who makes it possible.”
One of the joys that entered Jadon Robinson’s life in his teen years before his death in 2015 was the sport of football. He played with the Sir John A Flames and was also selected for a provincial team as well. Even on the field he brought smiles to those around him. CONTRIBUTED
