Ray Watkins Elementary School in Gold River reopened Thursday after being closed for two days when several students and staff developed symptoms including hives, itchiness and welts.
The symptoms were limited to two classrooms in the school’s intermediate wing, but the entire school underwent a thorough cleaning and airing, a statement from the school said.Island Health gave its approval for the school to open, the school said,. The Gold River Health Centre advised anyone with symptoms to shower or bathe, change into clean clothes, and clean surfaces in their bedrooms.
