Family of man killed in alleged swarming slams justice system as teens seek bail.

Lee died of his injuries hospital after an attack, near York Street and University Avenue, on Dec. 18., and the seven others have hearings this week and next to try and obtain bail as well.

The teen suspects, all charged with second-degree murder, cannot be named under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.“For serious crimes, these perpetrators should not have any privacy rights or bail,” they wrote in the statement. “The public should be aware of who these individuals are to protect themselves. The perpetrators must be named in order to bring forth more victims, witness and evidence.

“How is the Act protecting the public if we don't know who these perpetrators are and why they are released on bail?” they wrote. “As a parent, my question to the lawmakers who wrote the Youth Criminal Justice Act is how are you protecting my child if the perpetrator cannot be named and she could be in my child's school or class?”Police previously told reporters Lee was with a companion when he was attacked.

Police subsequently arrested eight teen girls nearby in connection with the alleged fatal assault. They are from the Greater Toronto Area, and range in age from 13 to 16 years old.Public interest on the topic of bail reform has been strong recently in light of a number of high-profile crimes involving suspects who were out on bail.

Experts have said the majority of those released on bail do not commit crimes while awaiting their court dates.

This poor man, family is devastated, and yes this seems like a hate crime for sure. Release pictures and names , no protection for murderers

Definitely they should be released. The YCJA is an outdated law that is absolutely meaningless. These girls are murdering filth who deserve to live a life of abuse and agony for what they’ve done.

They had a group pic that was released at one point but taken down. All well you know. Find it bs oh they just met all online as police said at first crap. This was a hate crime that you see in US but they don't like that reported here....😡😡😡

Names, races, ages…. Hate crime?

I agree this was so awful ! They are teens but murderers ! We are talking about someone loosing their life over a group of teens beating that person to death without remorse !

Nothing to see folks. Just BLM doing BLM things.

Agreed

It was a race crime. Say it, a race crime. Black on Asian.

So those teens get away? I see, because they are female

And what good would it do them?

Diversity is our greatest strength.

No bail! Should be tried as adults. At 16 you get a license!

They will most likely get bail. Different set of rules for black criminals in Canada.

Justice system failing Canadians….weird

It’s not a justice system it’s a legal system. One in which guilt or innocence is irrelevant.

Lock them up! Vile and disgusting behaviour of a generation that knows no consequences!

Canada is broken. UnderStatement

Why now, they didn't care about him before.

The girls assaulted multiple people that night. I’m sure reports were made about them. Would police dare to approach a group of 8 black teen girls without actually witnessing a crime in progress? Allegations of racism are preventing police from preventing crime.

The Trudeau gang has allowed more rights to the criminals then the victims in most cases. Why do you Canadians vote for such people to be leaders.

Sue the parents of the criminals that did this.

Wow. Good old young offenders act. Hope these parents are proud of their girls for killing a man.

Welcome to Canada.

Family of woman who died after altercation with Toronto hospital guards launches $16-million lawsuitThe sister of a 43-year-old woman who died 16 days after an altercation with security at a Toronto hospital has filed a $16 million lawsuit against University Health Network and the guards. As she should. Someone needs to go to jail for this. The largest part of the law suite should be the Company who Hired the Guards. It is their failed training that killed her. Hospital Security is nasty. I was bedridden once and the guy in the uniform kept glaring at me as if I was going to get up and make trouble.
