Running the turbines using B.C.’s hydro electricity to cool the gas to liquid for shipping would limit emissions, but requires hundreds of kilometres of new transmission lines to reach the province’s remote northwest coast. Ottawa wants to develop a Canadian LNG industry to boost the economy, but has also pledged to cut emissions by at least 40 per cent by 2030.

He said he is satisfied the province of B.C. can generate enough electricity for the terminal — the issue is how quickly it can build new transmission lines and how that would impact Phase 2 costs.

For context, this 4MT of CO2 is on par with BC's *total* emissions from residential gas use Global coal/oil emissions have been flat for a decade, while gas emissions grew by 1500MT/yr. Gas isn't a climate solution, coal to gas switching only delays +2C a few years bcpoli

Wishing strength to his father Serhii in this ordeal. russiaMustBeDefeated as soon as possible Countless living dads and moms mourning their kids, killed by the mRNA covid shot. I’m guessing more war propaganda, weapons, and cash being sent to Ukraine won’t help much. We need to start pushing for a peace agreement. Not fostering conflict.
