The Dutch king and queen cut short their vacation after criticism from their citizens, who are being urged to stay at home

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Queen Maxima step down from their plane upon arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia, Monday, March 9, 2020. THE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS -- The Dutch royal couple were back in the Netherlands Saturday after their vacation trip to Greece had to be abandoned because of an uproar back home, where people are urged to stay at home as much as possible.

“Let there be no doubt: To beat the COVID-19 virus it is necessary to follow the rules. The discussion caused by our vacation does not contribute to that.” Prime Minister Mark Rutte said that the nation needed to move a step closer to a full lockdown because otherwise hospitals would become so overburdened that people with other urgent needs would be unable to get treatment.

As role models they should really be living by example.

The world doesn't need royalty anymore. Their time has finished.

🙄😷

Monarchy is trash.

This is proof that the governments of the world know lockdowns don’t work and that Covid is not deadly to a majority of people. Yet continue to send the opposite messages out. FactsNotFear

You have to wonder what they think. So sad and out of touch

Setting the example again by following the rules of lockdown, masks, and saving the environment .

Success is noblest, like the song says, imo. Being born into $ doesn't really count.
