THUNDER BAY — Over the coming months, stakeholders will have a chance to weigh in on a number of budget cuts and service reductions that were brought forward at this week's council meeting.
During Monday night's meeting, council directed administration to consult with stakeholders on various issues, including the sister cities program, Neebing/Mission transit route, heritage advisory committee, Neebing Arena, and outdoor skating rinks. These items were outlined in the 2024 budget amendments report, which listed 28 items that could receive adjusted, reduced or cut service levels to save over $2 million in the budget.
While many of the 28 items listed were approved on Monday, council deferred a handful to go through a community consultation. Ratification of the approved items is set for July 17, while details from the consultations will be brought forward by the end of August.
