From private doctors and private nurses at private, for profit, clinics? NO! If medical professionals want to be 'private' they should be able to do that. But not be eligible for public healthcare payments. Patients may apply to have benefits repaid to them.
The same people the destroyed the healthcare system are now trying to repair it. There’s something terribly wrong with this picture.
Oh what a surprise this is suggested. weffers
No we need less people abusing the health care system by going to emergency rooms for colds
Public broadcaster panders to private health care corporations🤦♂️ Maybe if you used your funding to do some good instead of these both sides arguments & premieres actually used theirs on public healthcare we would be alright.
I'll be honest, as an RN more & more nurses are quitting and they are going to the private sector. The bleeding will not stop, the ER clousures will continue. We are humans; not machines. We talk public health care in theory, but our actions are clear, we want out.
RN x 35 years and still working, many nurses are jumpting to private sector. I don't care how fit you are, 12 hr shifts + overtime is too much. Until we view nurses as humans, your not going to get retention or retired nurses returning to work.
Disappointed that 'The House' spoke to Ontario's problems and mentioned Quebec when BC is experiencing the same ER closures etc.... The same shortages of nurses. BC has over 1 million without a family doctor, we have the longest walk- in wait times in the country.
Hell no
F NO, CON provincial govts need to stop making it fail. Fund public health properly. CON govts are corporate sell outs. We are headed toward US style rip off health care.
No.
No.
Stop it. We need responsibly managed universal health care. Why are you even planting this seed?
This is how you launder terrible ideas through the media
We should stop climate change and pollution mitigation as well. The increased disease and injury will make private medical profits gigantic. Sure, thousands of children of poor families will die of easily cured ailments their families can't pay for but it's great for the economy
We do not need private health care in Canada. Fund the public care probably! How many two-tier systems studies and private health insurance stories you have to see to realized privatization is not the answer.
Aren’t we shooting the messenger?
Yes! It needs more privatization. Our current system is inefficient and we over pay for subpar public health care.
Fuck no
No, look to our southern neighbors and we see how thats working for them, not.
No
We should privatize your Lib propaganda network before we privatize health care.
How many seats will the Liberals lose in the next GE? My guess is 98
No.
NO!
Really, ? Does anyone there think anymore?
No.
NO. The objective of private healthcare is to deliver financial returns to owners (shareholders). The objective of public healthcare is to deliver healthcare to the public. Structurally only one can serve society. The other serves private capital. F. O.
How about privatizing the CBC.
No. We need to properly find public health care. We can start by allocating your budget.
WHY are you even asking this question? Absolutely NOT. Canada is healthier when EVERYONE has access to the same quality of healthcare services. Look at how things are in the USA. Multiples more per capita & many can't pay. Your question is redundant.
If this is what CBC is putting out these days, I have a better idea: Defund CBC and use the savings to fund more public healthcare. lol
Oh, let's start with a leading question. One that pushes the conservative corporatist agenda. Even though pretty much the entire country wants and supports public health care. Wow. I thought CBC was a news service, like with actual journalists.
Really making it easy for CBCPitchbot
It needs more funding.. Increasing public services under the rate of inflation is a cut... Not an increase.. Our leaders don't get to create situations then tell us its too hard to fix them... Every time...
Successive Liberal and Conservative governments have allowed ON s debt to increase to well over 400B$. And the current gov had lost control of the deficit. I'm not advocating for private health care but you if you truly want improved services then prepare for increased taxes.
No, we don’t. Yet one more thing, in an ever growing list, boomers are destroying on their way out.
The answer is no.
No.
No. Next stupid question?
Wow, next you're gonna advocate privatizing the CBC? What we need is a public broadcaster that acts like one ;)
NO.The plan of Conservatives is to allow/enable public healthcare to fail, so they can privatize. Then corporations and insurance companies are free to make $$$.
Wow lol wowwwww
No.
Nope.
If it comes down to a choice between shareholder profits and patient services, guess which one will be favoured.
Did you ask the question 'Who will go bankrupt paying for private healthcare?' Why do you think people with much more money deserve to have priority for healthcare? inequality privatization Medicare4All
No you ghouls
No! We don’t! We don’t want private healthcare! We don’t want some slippery rationale for it either! notoprivatehealthcare
Disgusting to suggest
It's as if no one knows Americans.
No we need premiers who actually do their jobs and who use the federal healthcare funds the way they are intended to be used, for healthcare not for general revenue.
This is incredibly stupid and you deserve the ratio you are receiving.
CBC openly manufacturing consent for the plundering and dismantling of our healthcare
the sheer irresponsibility of entertaining this notion, when the conservative strategy of 'run every public institution so poorly that people get desperate, then sell it off to private industry and profit as a crony' has been obvious for DECADES.
No
Learn from other countries - mortality rate for treatable conditions increases with privatization. Advocating for private healthcare is advocating for the vulnerable to be killed.
Fuck oooooooofffffff
have y'all tried not deliberately defunding healthcare to make it so shit? Let's actually fund it more to make it truly universal and cover everything like mental healthcare, vision care, dental care, etc.
No. What our current healthcare system needs, is media like you to tell the truth - that conservative premiers are grossly and intentionally mismanaging our health care so they can introduce private health care for their cronies' financial benefit.
No. Any other stupid questions?
Is there a layer of bureaucracy missing where conservatives can rake in money while fucking us all you mean
cbC IS a lEfTisT broADcaStEr
All that matters is providing Canadians with reliable, affordable, high-quality healthcare - whatever method can do this is the best method
No.
I'm not reading all that and the answer to your question is no
🖕🏼
CBC, the CPC’s mouthpiece.
Canada needs more bees.
NO this Canadian neither needs nor wants 2 b a proxy American w/ embracing private healthcare. Canada's way- fought for & gained by my parent's generation- has better outcomes, gives longer lives, more equitable & puts r collective $ into healthcare NOT into capitalists' pockets.
If you wanted to get rid of government funded Canadian institutions, start with CBC
No. Next
Yes. A lot more.
No we don't.
Thanks for nothing. You really don’t need to bring this. To the forefront. Nobody wants health going private. Many other issues that Should be fully looked at
No
Nope. Ridiculous that another publicly funded enterprise, one much less important than healthcare, is suggesting this. Get real. For shame CBC.
What does Canada’s health care system really need? It needs Premiers to stop underfunding and misdirecting federal health transfer and pandemic $$ so the current non-profit national HC system actually works. Canada doesn’t need more private which would only drives up HC costs.
Hey so you guys are gonna both-sides absolutely every issue until the entire country wants you defunded eh?
Betteridge's law of headlines.
No. Please stop.
No. Nothing more needs to be said.
Publicly funded broadcaster argues in favour of a private healthcare system CBCPitchbot does it again
CBCTheHouse forgets there's legislation for public health care. Maybe it should be asking does Canada need Premiers who cut and damage their healthcare system with the intent on privatizing it? Or would that upset whoever asked you to do this hit-piece?
British railway system is perfect example of why privatization of a people’s resource is doomed to fail.
Hmm. Are we lacking personal bankruptcies and less than compelling Gofundme campaigns? Because those also go with private healthcare. DoBetter publichealthcare cdnpoli
DoEs CaNaDa NeEd MoRe pRiVaTe BrOaDcAsTiNg
CBC Radio's The House: Does CBC need more private funding to support the creation and delivery of the narrative that healthcare requires privatization? There's nothing like contracting out public services and making citizens pay out of pocket for it!
Honestly?
This is garbage
This is propaganda masquerading as both sides-ism. Canadians will die and suffer as our healthcare is privatized.
No.
Did the Fraser institute hack you?
WTF are u doing ... NO NO NO ...
When my 80 yr old mother has to wait 13 hours in an ER with a fractured arm and then get told the nearest fracture clinic is 2 hours away I'm thinking maybe
The UK has a private system AND a public system. Why not us?
Considering we are 28th in the world and falling in the ranks..ummm, yes!!
No
It needs this fixing.
why don’t we just take your funding and apply it to public healthcare instead?
Fuck no
Cons refuse to put money into the family home where Millions live so burning it down is your answer.
Canada needs less Doug Fords and more funding
Canada needs less inter-Provincial trade barriers, monopolies/gov backed rackets, more free markets, and Charter Rights without an escape clause...imo.
US: Sick people commit suicide here to avoid healthcare debt Canada: We need some of that!
Wishing the absolute worst upon all who greenlit the framing on this. Don't make me agree with conservatives that the CBC should lose funding.
no, fvck off
WTAF is this? Do we want to be like the American wheee the number one reason for bankruptcy is medical bills?
Very telling that the only person you could find willing to argue in favour of privatising healthcare is somebody who would benefit directly from it
The question should add Private health care that will not be covered by OHIP. AND, corporations will charge patients a lot more than the small amounts that OHIP paid.
Absolutely not!!! It needs to return to fully socialist!!!! Like it originally was! Some things should not have a profit motive! Like health, education, prisons, cops, the military! Etc…
If it gets us to better healthcare outcomes, then yes. Public-private healthcare systems can be successful. Healthcare is well funded here but needs significant reform.
When you begin the discussion at this egregious point of right-wing ideology, you're simply PROMOTING privatized health care.
Talking to a CEO of private clinics about the looting of our healthcare system during a pandemic is a new low. Its nice to know the bar is in hell for you CBC
Hmm would it be more efficient to take money out of healthcare and into the pockets of rich people
public broadcaster that doesn’t believe in public services… asinine.
The UK does private health care fairly well
A 2-tiered system means one for the rich and the other for the poor. Tommy Douglas wanted a universal system based on need NOT on the ability to pay.
Does canada need more right wing agitprop from CBC?
Private Healthcare is a new tax stream. Leftists always demand 'tax the rich'. Here is a way!
Holy shit. No.
