The National Allied Golf Associations wants its member courses to listen to authorities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organization issued a statement on Wednesday asking golf clubs across the country to follow the guidelines laid out by Health Canada, the World Health Organization, and other public officials.

NAGA is made up of five of the central organizations in Canadian golf including: Golf Canada, Canadian Golf Superintendent Association, Professional Golfers' Association of Canada, Canadian Society of Club Managers and National Golf Course Owners Association Canada.Quebec and New Brunswick had already mandated the closure of recreational facilities like golf clubs and Ontario's state of emergency shut all non-essential businesses, including golf clubs.

"Where governments have not mandated the temporary closure of golf courses, operators of those facilities should take every health and safety precaution," said the statement. The statement comes three days after Golf Canada CEO Laurence Applebaum told The Canadian Press that amateur golfers should stay home during the pandemic.

I have absolutely no problem staying well over 2m away from anyone who regularly hits the fairway!

While I’m so excited to hit the links, it’s just not worth it right now. Still a lot of chance to pick up the virus. Also not right that course owners are asking staff to work and expose themselves to whomever they come into contact with

Why do they get to be open? CEOs asked for it? C'mon!!

That is exactly what I was thinking.

Non-essential.

This is getting stupid...golf ranges you certainly keep your distance and same if you play and walk the golf course..probably the safest sport to play!!!

Shut down in Victoria

Community spread and travel now equally blamed for COVID-19 cases in CanadaAn equal number of Canadians who have tested positive for COVID-19 contracted the virus within their communities and from travel, according to Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam. There would have been no community spread if Trudeau and his fellow lightweights had put restrictions in sooner. And Air Canada will be gone soon too. No bailouts. Trudeau is not in control. Who is the puppet master? Follow the money. He's a plant. Isn’t it a shift because all they were testing at first were people who had travelled? 🤨
