Work is under way to clear more than 10,000 sequoia trees in California that have been weakened by wildfires, drought, disease or age

Upwards of 10,000 sequoia trees weakened by wildfires, drought, disease or age must be removed in California, work that will keep a nearby highway closed to visitors who seek the world’s two largest sequoia trees.

The highway is closed due to the KNP Complex blaze, which was 60% contained after burning 138 square miles of forest, and will remain blocked off to visitors after the fire is out while crews remove the trees. Cooler weather has helped slow the flames and the area was expected to see rain starting Sunday.

Forest officials said earlier this month the lightning-caused fires may have killed hundreds of giant sequoias, but the full extent of the damage has not been determined.

Erdogan orders removal of 10 ambassadors, including those from Canada, U.S.Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that he had ordered 10 foreign ambassadors who called for the release of a jailed philanthropist to be declared persona non grata. No surprise.. Erdogan is a dictator and has done nothing for the people of Turkey other than put the country back and destroy the economy. The best way to solve chronic problems is through dialogue. Dialogue brings peace and therefore prosperity. I hope they find better methods to help and assist the thousands of refugees who have flooded the eastern Mediterranean. 10/3 podcast: Majority of Albertans believe equalization is unfairThe Alberta government has been pushing for equalization reform for quite some time, but there are questions about whether the referendum does anything. Yes, that's what happens when a message is pumped at people 24/7 by people who have enough money to astroturf their way to a referendum. Now ask them specifically *how* it's unfair and see what the results are. Chances are, you're going to get the same 2-3 answers if anything. So the ucp were somewhat successful at one of their disinformation campaigns. 🤔 Too bad for them it amounts to a big nothingburger. Well, the rest of Canada created alberta, so some history might be worthwhile.
