The ByWard Market chose Giving Tuesday to launch a new community meal program.

Giving Tuesday began a decade ago as a way of inspiring generosity. It is marked in more than 80 countries, including Canada where more than $43 million was raised through online donations on Giving Tuesday 2021. “Ottawa Markets hopes our initiative will set an example for others looking for ways to support and build back their communities,” the organization said in its release.

Ottawa Markets is the independent non-profit agency that manages Ottawa’s ByWard and Parkdale markets.
