When Freddie Freeman and the Atlanta Braves meet Jose Altuve and the Houston Astros, it will be a World Series that's been six decades in the making. These longtime National League rivals began playing in 1962 and met more than 700 times before the Astros moved to the American League in 2013

Atlanta Braves' Eddie Rosario holds the MVP trophy as he celebrates with Guillermo Heredia after winning Game 6 of baseball's National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, in Atlanta.

Because of scheduling and COVID-19, the Astros and Braves haven't seen each other since 2017. They'll now meet for Game 1 on Tuesday night in Houston. But before we begin, let's just say it: There are many baseball fans who might not be thrilled to see either team here in late October. “I wasn't here with the team in 2017, but I've gotten booed just as equal as anybody else. So I think we all have the same mentality that we really want to win a World Series to demonstrate that we are just a great team,” he said.

In an era of social reckoning that saw the Cleveland Indians change their name to the Guardians and Washington's NFL team get rid of a name considered racist, the scene in Atlanta is sure to draw increased attention. He won the World Series as a player with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1981 and has taken five teams to the playoffs as a manager but never won the crown.

Former Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos guides Braves to World SeriesFormer Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos is heading to the World Series with the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta's president of baseball operations and general manager watched the Braves book a date with the Houston Astros by beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 in Game 6 of the NLCS on Saturday. Blue Jays should have never let this man go. One of, if not the biggest mistake in Jays history. A lot of respect for AA & what he did for the blueJays before being shoved out the door, but let’s be honest - he walked into an embarrassment of prospect riches in Atlanta. That said he did the right thing he with them, didn’t he. Wonder how JoseBautista feels about that. Thanks but keep his ass in Atlanta….🤮🤮🤮
