The arrests follow a sense of shock and outrage that rippled through Quinte at the time of the incidents as word spread that two Belleville cemeteries were defaced with spray paint.Article content An estimated 425 gravestones were defaced at the St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery adjacent the Belleville Cemetery as well as at Elmwood Cemetery on River Road in Thurlow Ward with the number of damaged gravestones climbing to more than 600 in the city days later.
