B.C. woman dying of cancer can't see sister because of COVID-19 travel ban

OTTAWA -- With just weeks to live, Charie Santiago has one final wish: to see her sister again.

"It would give her that peace of mind that she was able to properly say goodbye, say goodbye to her sister,” her husband, Arthur, told CTV News. While athletes, migrant workers and some people conducting business have been able to cross the border despite the pandemic, many families in desperate situations are caught in technicalities.

This is sickening! Illegals are being allowed in, yet this woman can't see her sister one last time? This makes me root for the NDP to call for an election and vote JT out in an election.

The most important part of this article is the mention of the NHL. Sad day indeed where hockey games are more important than human compassion. As someone who just lost a loved one to cancer during Covid, it’s obvious greed wins this one.

Why is this news? This is happening all over the place. A friend's mother died of Covid and he wasn't allowed to attend her funeral. The family near her bedside had to quarantine for 14 days afterwards.

All in this together...not

So unnecessary and upsetting. The mental toll some policies are having on families are unacceptable IMHO We need to learn to live with COVID19. It's not going anywhere and we can't keep putting families through this

Same scenario for me this past March. I had to say goodbye to my sister via video Messenger. It's horrible and heartless, a goodbye that has scarred me forever.

Facts, these travel bans are ridiculous. Back in the summer, I needed to go see my family and was pretty much stuck here, until they lifted the ban, and the hardcore quarantine.

Complete bullshit! Can't wait to see the class action law suits build up against this draconian government.
