Canadian author Alice Munro attends the opening night of the International Festival of Authors in Toronto on October 21, 2009.

Canadian author Alice Munro is among dozens of Nobel prizewinners urging Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to deny approval to a massive oilsands project in Alberta.

The signatories call fossil-fuel projects "an affront to our state of climate emergency," as well as incompatible with Canada's pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and work towards reconciliation with First Nations. The letter, which appeared on the Guardian's website Friday afternoon, takes Trudeau to task for considering any new fossil fuel developments at all.

Before somebody says don’t do something....they should offer a feasible alternative to offer. Otherwise, you risk looking like a protester always complaining rather than a leader looking to solve a problem.

So all of you elitist that don't want this , are you going to move to this oil sands area and help create jobs for the people that you want to take jobs from ? Didn't think so. Put your money where your mouth is and stop using oil products. No you can't . Then shut up .

Private Jets, Limo’s and even if they drive electric cars is a joke. I would suggest doing research on the strip mining that is involved to get the elements for rechargeable batteries. Let’s say in my worse than oil sands mining.

How about sharing the opinions of the many native Canadians who are in favor of the oil sands ? Doesn't fit your narrative? Racists

What a loooser!

How else are we going to print your books?

Ass sphincter says 'what'?

After all writing fiction is her specialty.

And another Nut.

Another expert weighing in.

Alice, congratulations on your Nobel prize. I would prefer you offer a viable alternative vs a condemnation of the natural resources that fuels prosperity. I think your suggestions would make more sense if consumption was expected to drop in our lifetime. I chose Canadian O&G!!!

Gotta love it. Even talking about it is a disgrace. How very open minded these people are

ScottMillerCTV

I wonder when she totally give up oil Nd oil related products?

Go get lost

Another person who lives and makes a living in a make believe world. Authors and actors just need to shut it! Their opinion means nothing to people who live in the real world. They are an escape not an expert!!

Why do celebrities get a voice and Canadians do not?

Well fuckyou Alice

Tell Alice to move to Alberta and stand on their Legislative steps and state her case - obviously she cares nothing about that province’s well being and truthfully no one cares anything about hers

Let’s be sure to pull the plug on her first chance we get. Can’t have medical equipment using up energy and creating unnecessary emissions

Alice Munro, you’re delusional 🤯 the oil sands Pipe ⛽️ Line is a necessity for EVERY 🇨🇦Canadian. You and the Protesters should be banned from Buying ⛽️. DEAL WITH THE TRUE FACTS ⛽️ is here to STAY. support 🇨🇦⛽️GAS or start walking No 🚘 ✈️ for protesters.

How do these people jet around the world via hot air?

Now does she look like someone who would survive without Oil? A Grizzly wont care much about her trinket.

The Trudeau gang should give her and the other Nobel prize winners the big finger. Take a trip to China away from the over hyped commercial areas and the ghost cities into the real industrial areas. Then do the same in India, Brazil. The mindset will change.

Obama got one. Hers means as much as his. Nothing.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Alice Munro's is one of 37.59 million.

Absolutely - we should be working towards alternative fuel sources to move forward in the future - stop sucking the earths vital liquids out

She knows a lot.

When she quits using oil products I will agree.

Why are all the smartest humans always Liberal?

These privileged people (whatever their race) should first show us by example how to live without oil then perhaps we will listen to them. Please note just driving an electric car is not going to cut it. They also have to give up anything made of oil or by oil.

Munro should stick to writing books. Her opinion on infrastructure projects is irrelevant.

No worries.... the UN is now in complete control of Canada.

Who is this nut bar broad?

Heh Alice.... Who F__k_n cares what you think. And as for CTV which is owned by Bell Media. Well time for a new cell phone and TV provider. Bye Bye BellMediaPR time for Telus

Alice can shove her books.

Alice, Alice?! Who the fuck is Alice?

Stuff it munro.

Just like her shitty books I had to read in school, who cares

Privileged liberal says what?

And Limos are Her thing?

Trudeau promises update on blockades as Wet’suwet’en chiefs meet with Mohawk supportersThe rail blockade, and others like it across the country, went up after the RCMP enforced a court injunction against the Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs and supporters, forcing them off an access road to a worksite for the Coastal GasLink pipeline Update will be he and the clowns are working very hard. , Empty promises by a spineless coward who wants his own energy sector to fail. Absolutely appalling. Tyendinaga mohawks shouldn't have any say in this its not effecting them they are always protesting about something , cut their power off, stop trucks with propane and gas going into the reserve , they will go home ! And before anyone says anything yes I'm native !
