Former NHL defenceman Akim Aliu has signed a contract with Czech hockey team HC Litvinov of the Czech Extraliga, according to TSN's Frank Seravalli.Akim Aliu has signed with HC Litvinov to continue his pro career in the Czech Extraliga. He leaves tomorrow and is expected to play his first game on Friday.

Aliu made headlines earlier this season when he accused former Calgary Flames head coach Bill Peters of directing racial slurs towards him when both were with the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs - the Chicago Blackhawks' top farm team - in 2009-10.Aliu played seven games in the NHL from 2011 to 2013, all with the Flames, scoring two goals and adding one assist. He played with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL last season, scoring four goals and seven assists over 14 games.
