DIGBY, N.S. — A 73-year-old woman died after she was struck by a vehicle in a Digby County village on Friday.

RCMP said emergency personnel were called to the collision on Highway 101 in Grosses Coques shortly before 2 p.m.On arrival, officers learned a Ford Edge travelling on the highway struck the driver of a parked Kia Soul who was outside her vehicle, speaking with another driver parked behind her. The driver of the Kia, a Digby woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the vehicle, a 74-year-old Digby man, was not injured.

The driver of the Ford, a 76-year-old Kings County woman, and the motorist parked behind the Kia did not suffer injuries. A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the highway was closed for several hours. RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.
