A dog rescue group has brought over 19 rescued dogs from Lebanon to Canada

TORONTO -- A dog rescue group that managed to bring 19 dogs from Lebanon to be adopted by families in Canada saw them arrive in Montreal on Tuesday.

Cynthia Ashkar, who works with the veterinarian team for Rescue Dogs Lebanon-Canada overseas, says she feels a special connection with the animals. “When I see these animals being hit by cars, shot, abandoned, abused, I felt with them somehow,” Ashkar told CTV News. “I felt their pain and I needed to give them a voice.”

Ashkar and her team have rescued more than 350 dogs from Lebanon and helped them get to families here in Canada, including the Ephraims. “They’re so loyal,” Zak Ephraim told CTV News. “They’re such great animals, the fact they could still trust people after what they’ve been through… is just amazing.”

Why do we need dog from lebanon? We have dog to help in Canada.

Hooray for the lucky 19 dogs...welcome to Canada my furry, welcome friends...now your good life begins. HATS OFF to all the good people who brought them 'home'.

We have seniors who can’t afford to buy food, or pay heating bills! We have kids going to school on an empty stomach because their parents can’t afford milk & bread...We have people with mental illness sleeping outside in -30C temps... but ya let’s bring dogs over from Lebanon :(

What a pampered and ignorant society we are in Canada our if in the midst of this disaster this in news

Ok nice I called 23 Vet clinics yesterday from Ottawa to Pembroke can’t have my dog looked at until November ? Hasn’t this pandemic thought anyone anything ? Let’s import foreign animals that’s 1 priority Omfg stop with lets save the world crap and start in our own backyard !

Ridiculous, how many homeless people need help within Canada?

You gave to go pretty far left to be right sometimes. This would qualify.

Ego feeders. SMH

Stray dogs got an easier time getting into Canada than most humans and probably get treated better than First Nations People.

Thank you to all the rescuers. I believe that the next step is to put legislation in about animal abuse.

We have perfectly good dogs here.

I’m not all good with this. I understand the humility but every northern community and region in this country has dog rescue problems that need pretty intensive care. Seems like a lark, possibly not entirely amiable 🤔

19 rescued dogs from Lebanon arrive in Canada. I always wonder why people rescue dogs from other parts of the world. Are there no dogs here to rescue? I would think it would be a cheaper process. No?

I think it is better to bring over refugee people before dogs. We should take care of fellow humans first. Where is the humanity and compassion for the people? This act of saving dogs is not the right priority!

Dogs are better than people, we should bring them all.

We're deporting front-line health care workers and importing dogs.

'We want to survive': Indigenous children in Toronto receive COVID-19 vaccines at school clinicIndigenous children in Toronto are celebrating after becoming some of the first kids in Ontario to receive one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. I’m happy for them they have chosen to be vaccinated. I thought the concept was priority for groups living in remote locations with poor access to healthcare? Now the priority is the fastest on a PC in Toronto.
