OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed Tuesday that there will be enough COVID-19 vaccines coming into the country to offer every eligible and willing Canadian their first shot by this summer, and enough doses for everyone to be fully vaccinated “by September.”
Touting Canada’s ranking among G20 countries when it comes to daily vaccination rates—while the overall percentage of the population that is fully vaccinated remains low—Trudeau said that while the country is not finished fighting COVID-19, nearly 50 per cent of eligible adults have received at least one shot.
While supply challenges remain—currently with the AstraZeneca vaccine—that are prompting another course change in the delivery strategy in some regions, Canada is expecting to receive enough doses for everyone to have had their first shot by the end of June. The majority of those doses are from mRNA vaccine producers Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, with enough doses secured of both to vaccinate the entire population with these two-dose vaccines.

...and now I read this. Let’s do the math. 255,000 first does have been given of the AZ. Remaining supply will be used for second doses. Those second doses available are about 8,400 doses. That leaves 246,000 with no second AZ vacinne to be available for them. TrudeauMustGo
The problem that seems to be ignored by CTV and other media types is that delayed second doses is problematic. In fact Pfizer issued a release last week which seems to be clear that the 4 month interval is not recommended. I wonder why the PM never gets that question.

Israel has vaccinated less than 60% of their population and they reported 8 cases yesterday. The US has vaccinated 45% and is fully back to normal. Why would Canada need to vaccinate 75% before easing any public health restrictions. That’s ridiculous.
