When she composed Ceasefire Zela Margossian didn't have to imagine what it was like when the bombs stopped falling in a war-zone. It was a vivid childhood memory from Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War | JohnRShand

, Zela Margossian didn't have to imagine what it was like when the bombs stopped falling in a war zone. It was a vivid childhood memory from Beirut during the Lebanese civil war. The piece reflects the sheer joy of being able to leave the bunker to play soccer in the streets.

"But I think when we were in the bunkers, although the world was hell outside, we kind of were having fun because we were kids … Then as teenagers you wondered, 'why is my country always in ruins?'"For Margossian, a Sydney-based composer and pianist, COVID-19 has only been a part of what she calls a crazy year.

"I don't want to spend my time really exhausting myself just to present a program which is 99 per cent accurate, but which has none of my core emotions involved in it. It was like another person going on stage playing the music."

WARNING: Confronting I just don't get what it is with glassing and coward punches over here...both deserve actual prison time! In Canada we call them 'sucker punches' but were rare and I never saw a glassing until I moved to Australia. I would happily prosecute either! Just ridiculous behavior.

Unions more constructive on energy policy in a week than Labor in seven years: Taylor | Sky News AustraliaEnergy Minister Angus Taylor says he has seen more constructive energy policy from the unions in a week than he's seen from Shadow Energy Minister Mark Butler in seven years.\n\n'We have seen more constructive policy from the CFMMEU and the AWU this week than we have seen from the Member for Hindmarsh for seven years as Shadow Minister,' he said.\n\n'While those opposite fight among themselves, we are getting on with the job.\n\n'We saw a perfect example of that in this place, earlier today when the Member for Hindmarsh couldn't name a single Labor energy policy in a 20-minute speech.\n\n'There was no plan for gas, no plan for reliable, affordable energy. There was no plan for a 2030 target and there was no plan to stay in the Paris agreement.'\n\nMr Taylor said the key to emissions reduction was in the development and deployment of new and emerging technologies.\n\n'When new technologies become economically competitive, they are rapidly adopted by Australian businesses and households,' he said.\n\n'We are seeing that happen firsthand right now with the adoption of renewables 10 times the global average.\n\n'Four times higher than China, Japan, the US and Europe and we are now focused on unlocking new technologies that will help us bring down emissions and address the challenges of those new technologies, like the firming of renewables.'\n\n AngusTaylorMP Mark_Butler_MP Does it protect his family interests? Human rights groups want Qatar to stop criminalising sex outside marriage and end 'love crimes'Advocates are calling for change after Qatar's Government confirmed Doha airport authorities forced passengers on a flight bound for Australia to undergo invasive internal examinations in an attempt to find the mother of an abandoned newborn baby. No wonder the woman abandoned her baby.
