The company's video platform did not load for users and had an error message: "Something went wrong…" Some took to Twitter saying they were unable to turn on their lights because of the outage, which impacted Google home devices and smart speakers.Google's own website that logs outages showed that all of the company's services were suffering from outages since about 11:00pm AEDT.

"We are aware that many of you are having issues accessing YouTube right now — our team is aware and looking into it," YouTube said in a tweet.According to outage monitoring website DownDetector, more than 12,000 YouTube users were affected in various parts of the world, including the United States, Britain and India.The BBC wrote that Google had been contacted for comment, "but one spokesperson said they were unable to access their email during the outage".
