Community leaders say the programs are an invaluable resource which help young people learn, grow and access otherwise out-of-reach opportunities. But without better funding they'll have to close.

abc.net.au/news/nt-youth-services-in-remote-communities-thrown-funding-lifeline/101726354Federally funded remote youth programs in Central Australia have been thrown a lifeline and had their funding extended, but operators say the fix is a bandaid that fails to address ongoing funding woes in the sector.

Two of its Western Australian programs in Blackstone and Jameson have no secure funding past June 2023 and three of the NT programs are set to close in the next three years if additional funding is not secured. In remote communities — where every resource from cars and fuel to food and electricity are scarce — the programs and their facilities support a number of activities that would otherwise struggle to get off the ground.

She said when programs closed, young people and their families would be forced into town to access services.

Yet again the ABC(Aboriginal broadcasting etc) pushing its favourite issue , turning off many

Close the gap between the creator and Satan rainbow serpent looses

You know that if you actually closed this 'gap', the funding stops. That's how funding and many charities work. Best keep keep it the way it is.

Oh not again 'more money' 🤦

so its obvious a large portion of these adults are siphoning the money

If have been around long enough to know, no one has been near that building in a long time. So now the ABC, BS, begins to ramp up to motivate the impressionable leftards, to throw even more money at the problem.😌

beyond words! where does the $30 billion given annually go?

Why is the federal government funding youth programs? Seriously all the Fed should be doing is managing defence and national business everything else should be left to the relevant state or territory.

Of course they're underfunded, the Aboriginal activists and politicians makes sure the majority of funding available goes to them and their interests first, which doesn't coincide with the interests of the disadvantaged communities.

The good news for youth is that in Victoria governments who know what’s best for your kids have taken rights away from parents to ensure they can chop off their penises and sew up their vaginas and parents will get arrested for child abuse if they try to stop it.

Where the hell does all the money go It’s like a broken record, same issues, no money, program after program, year in year out with the same results. Bourke a large Indigenous community has over 50 Government and NGO’s for a town of 3000 people. But nothing changes!! Why..

Underfunded?! The money laundering needs to stop and these people need all the help they can get. Billions spent over the years and nothing changes?

Sorry kids, no money for you, because we're spending $$bn on a 'Voice' so some highly paid people can'talk' about your problems.

So where does the 35 Billion go each year?

Children & youth should have funding before anything else. Early prevention spend even better.

Underfunded ? I bet the filthy public servants running that dept dont have that problem. One thing Covid has proven, 50% of the public service office workers, ARE NOT NEEDED, Get rid of them and distribute the money thats saved on programmes that need funds.

just sad racial segregation is being used to teach indigenous kids to have separate identity than Oz national identity They r taught in 1st nation languages which wont be useful to get jobs Teach good skills not cultures

'It drives you crazy': Here's what it's like being locked up inside a prison for kidsA 'gladiator pit', a 'war zone', a 'kindergarten for the adult prison' — these are just some of the ways Tasmania's only youth detention centre has been described. This is what it's like inside. Whilst the prison system for youth crime is in serious need of overhaul the amount of stories revolving around this and nothing much seems to be reported about the ongoing consequences for the victims of these criminals. Well maybe if they didn't engage in fatherless behaviour ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯ The ABC is on a mission to let Aboriginal juvenile offenders roam free.
