Labor, Greens slam government decision to put childcare in the women's budget | Sky News AustraliaThe federal government has announced $3.4 billion in the 2021 Budget for improving the lives of women, however, half the allocated funds are directed to childcare.\n\nThere was $355 million in the budget for women’s health with a national health strategy, funding for infant and stillbirth research, a national endometriosis action plan, and maternal, sexual, and reproductive health programs. \n\nWomen’s economic security was allocated $1.9 billion with $1.7 billion given to childcare for more than two children. \n\nSTEM scholarships were awarded $42 million, with $38 million provided for women’s leadership and development, and $14 million for Indigenous women in business. \n\nLabor and the Greens have slammed the government’s decision to include childcare in the women’s portion of the budget, saying childcare is a family issue and should be treated as such. \n I once heard Malcolm Turnbull say women have to be good role models for their young children by being productive members of society by going to work. Not the exact words but similar... same meaning. It was on the news. I nearly fell off the couch. More tax payers; working women and child care workers. Gotta empower women to be productive members of society, to only feel good about themselves if they have a career.. and send their children to childcare.. Messed up
