New research has found teenage and young African migrants to Australia have a 10 times higher risk of developing a psychotic disorder than those born in Australia.

Young immigrants from Africa to Australia are 10 times more likely to develop psychosis than Australian-born youth.

They are followed by migrants from Sudan who are at seven times greater risk and Ethiopians at 5.5 times."From the data here we see that the migrants from war-torn countries have an increased risk of psychosis," Associate Professor Brian O'Donoghue said. The study looked at young people aged 15 to 24 who presented with first episode psychosis over a six-year period.

The research and article are both racist as they make distinctions based on race which by definition is racist

Oddly, claiming a mental illness gets offenders less of a penalty when they are before the Court. Not saying that this is the reason, but it certainly could be.

Media publishes research with headlines perpetuating one of the reasons the research concluded was part of causing the problem. You can do better SBS, headline should always consider how many are not going to read the article . Cant wait to see how the Murdoch rags represent it
